Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September, the Kremlin announced Monday.
“The president does not plan participation in the General Assembly this year,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to the TASS news agency.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to address the assembly on September 23, TASS reported, citing a preliminary program of speeches circulated at U.N. headquarters.
