HAMBURG — In one of the most highly-anticipated political confrontations since the end of the Cold War, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin pow-wowed for more than two hours Friday on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
They agreed to work together to implement a new ceasefire in southwest Syria, to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine — with the appointment of a new U.S. envoy to Kiev — to jointly combat cyber-security threats, and to try to repair the badly frayed relations between the world’s major nuclear powers.
