Die Welt covered comments made by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who said he was concerned about the state of relations between Berlin and Moscow. Frankfurter Allgemeine covered the call by Ukraine for sanctions against former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder over his pro-Russia lobbying. Süddeutsche wrote that the “EU shies away from blaming Moscow” for the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the English city of Salisbury, referring to the fact that EU foreign ministers stopped short of blaming Russia at a meeting in Brussels on Monday.
