PRAGUE (JTA) — Political tensions with Russia must not be allowed to obfuscate the historical record on the Holocaust, a senior European Union official said.
Frans Timmermans, the first vice president of the European Commission — the E.U.’s executive branch — made the plea Monday at an event in Prague commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp by Soviet troops.
