Police in Moscow detained dozens of peaceful protesters demanding the release of jailed Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, as top U.S. officials added their voices to the growing chorus of Western leaders and diplomats calling on Russia set her free.
Around 100 demonstrators gathered in Moscow on March 8, International Women’s Day, to demand that the Kremlin release Savchenko, who has spent more than a year and a half in a Russian prison.
