In recent days, the situation in Central Europe has moved from disturbing to alarming. Vladimir Putin, undeterred by Western sanctions, is escalating his country’s incremental invasion of Ukraine.
When fighting first began last year, the Russians at least pretended to have no direct control over the heavily armed, well trained and impressively equipped “separatists” inside eastern Ukraine.
