Bulgaria may have to bid its dreams about the South stream pipeline goodbye. This is almost certain after Gazprom received permission from Turkey for the construction of the Turkish Stream pipeline today.
Despite assertions that the two pipelines are not in direct competition and may be constructed independently, in reality, by building Turkish stream, Gazprom does not need the pipeline through Bulgaria in order to bypass Ukraine and deliver gas to Europe.
