Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov hypothesized the European Union should consider lifting sanctions on Russia if the United states revokes the measure under Donald Trump.
Speaking after the last European Council in Brussels on Thursday, he explained he had demanded that the EU hold “consultations” with Trump before extending sanctions imposed on Russia over the Ukraine crisis.
EU leaders on Thursday agreed to extend the restrictive measures on the country’s defense, energy and financial sectors that will be formalized early next week.
But Borisov told the Bulgarian National Radio he had warned counterparts the West needed to act “in unison”.
