A French citizen detained on the Ukrainian-Polish border last month had planned terror attacks, to coincide with the Euro 2016 soccer championship in France, France 24 TV broadcaster reported on Monday.
The TV channel quoted the head of Ukraine’s state security agency SBU Vasily Gritsak as saying at a news briefing in Kiev the man had contacted illegal armed groups in Ukraine with the aim of buying weapons and explosives.
“The Frenchman spoke negatively about his government’s actions, mass immigration, the spread of Islam and globalisation, and also talked about plans to carry out several terrorist attacks,” according to France 24.
