Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has arrived in Brussels for the EU summit. Poroshenko’s visit is aimed mainly at liberalising the visa regime for Ukrainians and the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Under the Minsk Protocol, representatives of Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) agreed to halt the war in the Donbass region of Ukraine, on September 5, 2014.
It is expected that the EU will re-confirm the continuation of sanctions against Russia against the annexation of the Crimea and its actions in Eastern Ukraine.
