U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin had an “eventful” discussion on Turkey, Syria and Ukraine during a meeting Monday on the sidelines of the U.N. Climate Summit in Paris, according to statements from the Kremlin and the White House.
The two leaders met behind closed doors for about 30 minutes, during which time Obama urged Putin to ease tensions with Turkey, a U.S. ally and NATO member, after the shoot-down of a Russian Su-24 jet by Turkish forces last week.
