In mid-July, a disturbing video surfaced in which a Canadian, Andre Poulin, entreats his fellow citizens to come to Syria to join the Islamic State in Syria and the Levant (ISIL). It shows Poulin in combat and includes a graphic close-up of his corpse.
The recruitment/martyrdom video was distributed by the al-Hayat Media Center, the propaganda wing of ISIL, now known as the Islamic State (IS) since it announced the restoration of the caliphate last month.
