One of the Moldovan ambassador’s main tasks is to familiarize Canadians with her small Eastern European country. And now Ala Beleavschi has a new tool in her arsenal: the Canada-Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group.
There was a more informal group, headed by the country’s then-honorary consul in Toronto, but now it’s a full-fledged Ottawa group consisting of MPs and senators. It holds its elections for executive positions on Wednesday.
“The interest from Moldova is to develop this group from the parliamentary dimension,” Beleavschi said. The interest from the Canadian side, meanwhile, is in getting to know Moldova.
