It only means changing a few letters and the order of three words, but for Nabil Marouf, representative of Palestine in Canada, there’s much at stake when it comes to the name of his mission.
“My mission is to promote Palestinian and Canadian relations,” Marouf said. “I want Global Affairs Canada to deal with (my mission) as a recognized political body.”
He has asked the Government of Canada to change the name of his delegation from Palestinian General Delegation to General Delegation of Palestine. So far, he’s met only with opposition on the point.
