Why would anyone think that encouraging Ukrainians to fight each other is helping them?
Ukraine is suffering in a civil war. The rebels, usually identified as “pro-Russia” but more accurately described as “anti-Kiev,” reacted to the unconstitutional political changes that followed the destructive demonstrations in Maidan Square, by declaring independence. The government’s forces, supporting politicians who benefited from that violence, have incorporated the unofficial militias that were active in Maidan.
