Notwithstanding the U.S. Democratic party’s sop to socialist Bernie Sanders in the crafting of its left-leaning policy platform, the party’s foreign policy is unapologetically right-of-centre. Of course, this is the same Hillary Clinton who voted in favour of a Congressional resolution backing the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2002.
Few recall just how hawkish Clinton was in the 2008 presidential primary season – in stark contrast to the dovish Barack Obama. Journalists have been told unofficially that she regards President Obama as unnecessarily weak on matters of global affairs.
