Troops from the Ottawa area have trained some 600 Ukrainian soldiers who are now on the front lines in that country’s battle with separatists.
Up to 200 Canadian Forces personnel are in Ukraine as part of the training mission that is to run until early 2017. The bulk of those are from Garrison Petawawa in the Ottawa Valley although there are other personnel from bases across Canada, such as Esquimalt, B.C. and Trenton, Ont.
