A short walk from Canada House in London is Waterloo Place. On the square’s eastern side is Kathleen Scott’s statue of her husband the doomed Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott. The statue of Sir John Franklin, Scott’s Arctic counterpart, stands on the west, the two tragic figures eternally staring at one another across the London traffic.
