Russia and France have hammered out a draft agreement on the amount of compensation to be paid for the scuttled deal for the Mistral-class amphibious ships.
The Russian news agency, RIA Novosti, has reported the agreement is ready to proceed to the next step, which will be signatures from representatives of the two nations.
It is unclear the amount of compensation that will be paid.
Kommersant newspaper reported several months ago that France was prepared to pay almost $900 million.
Russia was insisting on $1.3 billion to cover the initial financial advance and costs incurred in preparing bases and its sailors for the Mistral-class.
