Who’s got time for diplomacy when Justin Trudeau is on the loose?
On Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Rob Nicholson issued a press release blasting the Liberal leader’s “naïve foreign policy priorities.” The blatantly partisan attack was sent from Nicholson’s ministerial office and criticized Trudeau’s plan to end Canada’s bombing campaign in Iraq and Syria, and re-engage Iran.
While the intent was clearly to undermine Trudeau’s foreign policy credentials, some may question why Canada’s foreign affairs minister, or at least his office, is launching personal attacks against the leader of the third party rather than managing the country’s diplomatic efforts abroad.
