With U.S. involvement in ground wars in Afghanistan and Iraq pretty much over (or at least winding down), the U.S. Army is finding itself with hundreds of thousands of surplus Humvees on its hands.
What is going to happen to those vehicles? It’s unclear at this point.
But Textron Systems is hoping to keep some of them going with various upgrade kits it has developed.
Textron recently unveiled its what it is calling the Survivable Combat Tactical Vehicle (SCTV) – that upgrade puts a monocoque hull and v-shaped onto existing vehicles, Defense News reports.
