United Nations.- The UN Security Council held a meeting today under the Arria Formula to discuss the impact of climate change on international stability, a forum focused on the threat of sea level increase.
Summoned by Ukraine, the participants in the session analyzed the situation of developing small island States, the most vulnerable to sea-level increase, a phenomenon that experts warned to be already in progress.
Ukrainian Ambassador Volodymyr Yelchenko recalled that the climate change was affecting the whole planet, but its consequences especially put islands at stake, because many of them are in danger of being submerged and disappear.
