Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced more economic sanctions against Russia on Monday (March 17) during a meeting with Ukraine’s Ambassador to Canada Vadym Prystaiko in Ottawa, and condemned the “illegal, dangerous, unilateral actions of the Putin regime in the Crimea”.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister had called the referendum in Crimea “illegitimate”.
On Monday, the Canadian government also announced it was “imposing economic sanctions against the following Ukrainian and Russian officials who bear political responsibility for the crisis” and listed seven Russian officials, including Sergey Yur’yevich Glaz’yev, Presidential Adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin. and three Ukrainian officials, including Serhiy Valeriyovich …read more
