In Ukraine, pro-Russian rebels have called for an emergency session of the UN Security Council for sending international peacekeeping force into the war zone.
The leadership of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic said in a statement in Kieve on Tuesday that they want intervention of a peacekeeping force to control the implementation of existing agreements and help resolve humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian government signed a ceasefire with the rebels in September which failed to end the seven months long fighting.
About one thousand people have been killed since the truce signed last week.
Russia has denied directly supporting the rebels.
