MLB issues first lifetime ban for performance-enhancing drugs: Jenrry Meija, a right-handed relief pitcher with the New York Mets, received baseball’s ultimate punishment after testing positive for boldenone, a banned substance. Meija previously received an 80-game suspension for doping in April, followed by a season-long ban for it shortly after returning from that one.
Jim Gilmore drops out: The also-ran GOP presidential hopeful and former Virginia Governor announced his withdrawal from the race on Friday after previously vowing to stay in. His candidacy, however, failed to gain traction, receiving only 12 votes in Iowa and 125 votes in New Hampshire.
