A team comprised of investigators from Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Ukraine released interim findings of its criminal investigation into the shooting down of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 on July 17, 2014 which killed all 298 people on board.
The Joint Investigation Team report concludes that MH17 was shot down by a BUK surface-to-air missile system, fired from area controlled by Russian-backed fighters in eastern Ukraine.
