The Drudge Report’s focus for the day was several articles that report on Russian troops taking over areas in Ukraine.
According to the Washington Post, two Russian “armored columns” took over a town near the Russian border in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces who were defending the town were forced to retreat, a spokesperson with Ukraine’s military told the paper.
The columns–which included tanks and other armored vehicles–overran Novoazovsk, which is located on the Sea of Azov and is considered a key strategic area.
Col. Andriy Lysenko said, “Our border servicemen and guardsmen retreated as they did not have heavy equipment.”
