Oleksandr Ruvin, a senior forensic scientist from Ukraine, was shot in the leg late in 2015 while leading the investigation on the Malaysia Airlines jet MH17 crash.
Police have now arrested his suspected attacker, who claimed he was trying to assassinate him over the plane crash’s probe.
In October of 2015, a report was published confirming the plane was brought down by a missile fired from the ground in eastern Ukraine.
The prosecuting office in Ukraine detaining the assassin plans to hold a public briefing surrounding his “attempt to murder the chief expert on the case of the downed Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777.”
