The French Foreign Ministry has sent its director general for political and security affairs to Berlin to participate in preparations for a ministerial meeting of representatives of the Normandy format countries, which is scheduled for January 8-9.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal told this to an Ukrinform correspondent on Monday.
“The work is ongoing, and in this [Normandy] format the French director of the general department for political and security affairs today is already in Berlin to prepare for a working meeting,” the diplomat said.
He said that the meeting was being planned in the next few days.
However, another diplomatic source told Ukrinform that the ministerial meeting would take place this week. “The meeting should take place before the Normandy four summit, most probably on January 8 or 9, i.e. after your Christmas,” the diplomat said. According to him, the ministers will discuss in Berlin the Minsk protocol and compliance with the agreements reached.
