Hungarian avoids jail for fighting with Ukraine rebels


BUDAPEST: A Hungarian man was handed a two-year suspended jail term Tuesday for fighting with Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine in the first ruling of its kind in Hungary.

Krisztian L., 43, was convicted by a judge in Szekszard for “prohibited recruitment into an armed group participating in armed clashes”.
