TOKYO: Croatia’s Ajla Tomljanovic beat American Madison Brengle to reach the Japan Women’s Open semi-finals on Friday, leaving the tournament bereft of its top four seeds. Rising star Tomljanovic continued her fine run at the rain-hit Tokyo event with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over the third seed, having already eliminated Japan’s Kimiko Date-Krumm.
