The rupiah traded among banks in Jakarta on Friday afternoon
appreciated slightly by five basis points to 11,563 per US dollar, up from the
previous 11,568 per dollar.
Monex Investindo Futures analyst Ariston Tjendra said that
the rupiah’s improvement was limited as investors were worried about a possible
immediate increase of the US benchmark interest rate.
“The decline in the US unemployment rate and inflation
rate are signs that the US Federal Reserve may immediately increase the US
interest rate,” he said in Jakarta on Friday, as quoted by Antara news
agency.
