MOSCOW: Russian gas giant Gazprom said on Monday it had resumed gas supplies to Ukraine, adding that Moscow had received prepayment of US$234 million (RM968.53 million) from Kiev ahead of the winter heating season.
“Gazprom began supplying gas to Ukraine at 10am (3pm Malaysia) today,” Gazprom chief Alexei Miller said in a statement.
Moscow received US$234 million of the US$500 million expected from Kiev, Miller said, adding that Kiev had requested the delivery of 114 million cubic meters per day, the maximum volume of gas that could be delivered by Gazprom.
