Moscow will continue providing military aid to Damascus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reportedly said Sunday.
“There were military supplies, they are ongoing and they will continue,” Lavrov told Russian news agencies, according to Reuters. “They are inevitably accompanied by Russian specialists, who help to adjust the equipment, to train Syrian personnel how to use these weaponry.”
The Kremlin supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s four-and-a-half-year civil war that has killed around 250,000 people, and has repeatedly claimed its military aid is aimed at combatting terrorism and adheres to international law.
