As concerns build that an influx of Russian military aid to Syria could make the conflict there worse, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke Tuesday with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
The U.S. Defense Department expressed concern Monday about Russian moves in Syria, stating that Moscow appeared to be setting up an air base near the northwestern Syrian port of Latakia.
Earlier, U.S. President Barack Obama warned that Russian military activity in the war-torn nation could prevent the United States and its allies from finding a political solution to the conflict.
