The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has called on authorities in Crimea to protect the rights of ethnicTatar journalists there.
The OSCE Friday expressed particular concern about the fate of Avdet, the weekly newspaper of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, following what it called a week of “intimidation.”
The organization said Avdet’s offices in Simferopol were searched and that authorities forced all tenants, including the newspaper’s staff, to leave the premises.
