A prominent Belarusian journalist was killed in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, Wednesday in a car explosion.
The country’s top online news website Ukrainska Pravda said its journalist, 44-year-old Pavel Sheremet, died when an explosion tore through the car he was in as he prepared to go to work. Images from the scene showed a charred vehicle with all four doors open.
Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko said on his facebook page that Sheremet’s death was the result of an explosive device.
Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko called his death a “crime” and a “tragedy.”
