U.S. Defense Secretary of Defense Ash Carter is due to meet with his NATO counterparts in Brussels Wednesday to discuss plans for dealing with Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
Secretary Carter is on a week-long tour of Europe focused on U.S.-Europe cooperation in the face of the evolving situation with Russia, which is accused of providing direct support to separatists in eastern Ukraine.
Moscow denies providing troops or arms to the rebels.
Wednesday is the first of two days Carter will spend meeting with the NATO ministers.
