Fighting broke out in Kiev Monday after Ukraine’s parliament ruled to de-centralize power, granting greater autonomy to separatist-run Donetsk and Luhansk.
After news of the vote broke, protestors, many of whom were members of the nationalist party Svoboda and the far-right group Pravy Sektor, threw smoke grenades at Ukraine’s parliament building. One protestor also launched a grenade at police, according to Meduza. At least 100 police officers and members of the National Guard were injured and one was killed.
Earlier in the morning, members of the Radical Party of Ukraine attempt to disrupt the vote, calling the reform “anti-Ukrainian” and “pro-Vladimir Putin.” …read more
