MSNBC host Chris Hayes called out Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) on Tuesday for speculating, without providing any evidence, that Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R., Utah) isn’t seeking re-election because of illicit connections to Russia.
Hayes asked Waters to comment on what she thought the House Oversight Committee chairman was doing since he had declared last week that he was not running for re-election in 2018. Chaffetz also made news Tuesday when he and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D., Md.) addressed the press about former Trump White House national security adviser Michael Flynn’s dealings with Russia, calling them “extremely troubling.”
